Stains or damp on ceilings and walls
Brown patches, peeling paint or a musty smell on upper floors often point to water coming in somewhere above. The entry point is not always directly above the stain.
Roofing
A roof is rarely a problem until water gets in. By then, a single slipped tile or failed flashing can have soaked insulation, stained ceilings and started to affect the timbers beneath. Acting early usually means a smaller repair and a smaller bill.

What we can help with
Tell us what you can see, and send photographs taken safely from the ground or from inside the loft by replying to our acknowledgement email. We will help you work out whether you need a targeted repair, a more substantial refurbishment of part of the roof, or a full re-roof.

Know what to look for
Brown patches, peeling paint or a musty smell on upper floors often point to water coming in somewhere above. The entry point is not always directly above the stain.
If you can see light through the roof covering from inside, water and draughts can get in too. Wet or darkened felt and timbers are a further warning sign.
Loose or missing pieces after high winds can leave the underlay exposed. Fragments in the garden or gutters are worth investigating.
Dips in the roofline can indicate structural movement or failing timbers. Heavy moss holds moisture against the surface and can block gutters.
Practical guidance
How it works
Send a short description and your postcode, then reply to our acknowledgement email with photographs if you have them. Mention any leaks, how long they have been happening and whether the property is a house, flat or commercial unit.
For anything beyond an obvious small repair, the roof is looked at properly before a price is given, so the quote reflects what is actually wrong.
You receive the proposed work, the materials and what is and is not included, so you can compare it with other quotes on a like-for-like basis.
Work is carried out, the area is cleared and the result is talked through with you. Photographs of the finished work can be shared where practical.
Quick enquiry
A few details are enough to get started. Tell us what is wrong and where. A call is not a booking.
Questions
Protect your belongings, catch drips with a bucket or towels and take photographs for your records. Avoid going onto the roof yourself. If water is near light fittings or electrics, keep away from the area and turn off the affected circuit at the consumer unit only if it is safe to do so. Then send us an enquiry and mark it as urgent.
Often, yes. Isolated problems such as a few slipped tiles, a failed ridge or worn flashing can usually be repaired. If the covering is at the end of its life, repeated patching can become poor value, and a fuller refurbishment may make more sense.
Yes, commercial enquiries are welcome. Many commercial buildings have flat or low-pitched roofs, so you may also want to read our flat roofing page. Tell us about access, any permit or site rules and whether the building stays occupied during the work.
Where the work can be clearly defined, a written quote sets out what is included. Roofing can reveal hidden damage once old materials are removed, so a good quote should also explain how any extra work would be discussed and agreed before it goes ahead.
