Bespoke joinery

Bespoke joinery and fitted furniture in Surrey

Bespoke joinery is furniture designed for a particular room: a full-height bookcase, a home library, a wardrobe in an alcove, or a reading nook with seating and storage. Redhill and Reigate are the commercial focus for these projects. The work is coordinated as a project, with the specialist trades the design actually needs.

Fitted furniture

Designed for the room, then installed in it

This page is for higher-value joinery: libraries, wardrobes, alcoves and reading nooks. Ryan Group coordinates the specialist work and the installation. It does not invite visits to a workshop, and it does not publish prices or photographs of customer projects.

What we can help with

Bespoke joinery: the jobs we take on

Ryan Group does not own a joinery workshop and does not manufacture every component in-house. Supply and installation are agreed in the scope. A drawing, a measurement or a reference image helps. None of that is a completed Ryan Group project, and this page does not show customer work.

  • Full-height fitted bookcases and home libraries
  • Fitted wardrobes and built-in cabinetry
  • Bespoke shelving, including adjustable shelves
  • Reading nooks, window seats and storage benches
  • Media walls and entertainment units
  • Timber feature walls and oak or timber detailing
  • Specialist cabinetry, such as a pull-out for tall or awkward items
  • Soft-close hinges and drawer runners, where specified
  • Scribing and finishing against existing walls, floors and ceilings
  • Integrated lighting, arranged with a suitably qualified electrician where the design needs it
  • Design-led supply and installation, limited to the scope that has been agreed

Know what to look for

Projects this page is written for

A wall of books, not a single shelf

Symmetrical bookcase sections, lower cupboards and adjustable shelves are a library brief. A lone shelf is a handyman or carpentry job.

A seat built into the room

A reading nook or window seat with drawers underneath needs the opening, the depth and how people will get past it. A ladder, if you want one, needs clear floor space and a wall that can take a rail.

Wardrobes that follow the alcove

Built-in wardrobes are priced from the opening, the hanging and shelf layout, and the finish. Soft-close fittings should be named if you want them.

A finish you can point to

Oak, smoked oak, a painted finish or a timber effect are different specifications. Say which you want, or send a reference, rather than leaving the material implied.

Practical guidance

How a fitted-furniture project is scoped

The room decides the price, not a sample figure
No price is published here. Labour and materials for a library wall depend on size, timber, fittings, lighting, access and how far the walls are out of true. A competing quotation you already have can be discussed in private. It is not evidence of a Ryan Group project, and it is not repeated on this website.
Lighting is an electrical job
Warm-white shelf lighting, or any integrated LED, is specified with the joinery and connected by a suitably qualified electrician where that is required. This page does not publish an electrical registration number.
Installation is part of the job
Scribing to the wall, packing to the floor and a final adjustment of doors and drawers are what make fitted furniture look fitted. They should be in the scope, not assumed after delivery.
Who supplies the pieces
Design, supply and installation can be coordinated together. That is not the same as making the furniture in a Ryan Group workshop. The written quotation names what is supplied and what you are providing.

How it works

How a bespoke joinery enquiry works

  1. The brief

Location, the type of furniture, approximate sizes, the finish you want and when you hope to start. Mention access, parking and whether the room will stay in use.

  2. Drawings and references

A sketch, a measured survey or a photograph of a finish is useful. This website cannot accept file uploads. Email them to the address on this page, or describe them by phone.

  3. Scope and quotation

You receive a written scope: furniture, materials, fittings, electrical work if any, and what is excluded. An early conversation is not that quotation.

  4. Supply, installation and adjustment

Pieces are supplied as agreed, scribed to the room and adjusted. Doors, drawers and any ladder or lighting are checked against the scope before the job is treated as finished.

Project enquiry

Tell us about your bespoke joinery project

The more we know about what you have in mind, the more useful our reply will be. Rough ideas are fine. A call or an email is not a booking.

What to include

  • Project location, preferably a full postcode
  • Project type, such as a library, wardrobe, alcove, media wall or reading nook
  • Approximate width, height and depth
  • Drawings or reference images, sent by email rather than uploaded here
  • Preferred timber, colour or finish
  • When you would like the work to happen
  • Access, parking and whether the room stays in use

About you

We reply by email.

About the project

Where the work would take place. A full postcode is best.

Include the project type, approximate dimensions, preferred timber or finish, desired timing, and how installers will get access. Name any drawings or reference images you can email. Do not include anyone else's quotation paperwork.

Drawings and reference images: this form cannot accept uploads. After you send it, reply to the acknowledgement and attach them, or email info@ryangroup.co.uk.

We use these details only to reply to your enquiry. Ryan Group Maintenance & Construction Ltd will email you; nothing is booked and no payment is taken through this form. See our privacy notice.

Questions

Bespoke joinery: frequently asked questions

Can you design and install a fitted library?

That is the sort of project this page is for: bookcases, lower storage, adjustable shelves and, where the room allows, a seat or a ladder. It is quoted from your room. It is not a claim that a particular library has already been built.

Do you make the furniture yourselves?

No workshop is claimed, and not everything is made in-house. Ryan Group coordinates design, supply and installation, including a specialist maker where the project needs one.

How do I send measurements and drawings?

Put the sizes and a description in the enquiry form, or email them to info@ryangroup.co.uk, or talk them through on 01737 947226. The website does not have a secure upload.

Will lighting and a rolling ladder be included automatically?

No. Both have to be in the brief. Lighting needs a suitably qualified electrician where the installation requires one. A ladder needs a rail, fittings and enough space to travel.
