Kitchens and bathrooms

Kitchen and bathroom fitting and refurbishment

Kitchens and bathrooms are the hardest-working rooms in a home. They are also the most coordination-heavy, because plumbing, electrics, plastering, tiling and fitting all need to happen in the right order.

Know what to look for

Good reasons to refurbish

Layout frustrations

Poor storage, awkward workflow or cramped bathrooms often respond well to a revised layout, not just new units.

Tired, damaged or damp surfaces

Failing sealant, loose tiles or soft flooring can hide water damage. It is better to address them before they spread.

Accessibility needs

A step-free shower, better lighting and sensible storage can make a home safer and more comfortable.

Preparing a property to let or sell

A clean, well-finished kitchen and bathroom make a strong first impression and can reduce void periods.

Practical guidance

Good to know when planning

Lead times
Kitchens, worktops and some sanitaryware can take weeks to arrive. Order early and check delivery dates before work starts.
The order of work
Strip-out, first-fix plumbing and electrics, plastering, tiling, fitting and second fix need to follow a sensible order. A clear programme avoids delays.
Electrics and water
Bathrooms have specific electrical zones and ventilation requirements, and some changes need certification. Ask how this will be handled.
Supply or fit only
You can often choose your own products or ask for help sourcing them. Be clear about who is responsible for ordering, checking and storing deliveries.
Living without a kitchen or bathroom
Plan for temporary arrangements, and ask how long each room is expected to be out of use.

How it works

How a kitchens and bathrooms enquiry works

  1. Tell us about the room

Room size, what you want to change, whether you have chosen products and your preferred timescales.

  2. Survey and plan

The room, services and any structural considerations are looked at so the scope and sequence are realistic.

  3. Written quote and programme

You receive a clear scope of work, what is and is not included, and a timetable for each stage.

  4. Installation and finish

Work is carried out and coordinated, and the finished room is checked with you before handover.

Questions

Kitchens and bathrooms: frequently asked questions

Can you work with a kitchen I have bought elsewhere?

Often, yes. Let us know the supplier and delivery status so we can plan the installation and check what is needed.

How long does a bathroom refurbishment take?

It depends on size and scope. A simple refresh is quicker than a full strip-out with layout changes and a wet room. A programme should be given in your quote.

Do I need Building Regulations approval?

Some work does, such as changes to electrics, drainage or structure. Cosmetic changes typically do not. Ask for guidance based on your specific project.

Can you design the room as well as fit it?

Tell us what help you need. We will be clear about what we can do ourselves and where a specialist designer or supplier would help.
